Save the Loop

SHOOTING THE LOOP

by Skip Lowery

Doing the project, I discovered what joggers and cyclists already know: The Loop road is narrow, the traffic heavy. Even though I was off the pavement, I was on two occasions almost clipped by a car. Once when I wanted to shoot in the road itself, I had to wait a half hour before there were no cars in sight.

To avoid the traffic, and to catch the best light, I shot in the early morning and late afternoon.

And this is what I recommend for those who want to experience The Loop at its best. Go just before sunrise or at sunset. Go especially when there are scattered, low-lying clouds.
